Here are some images from a great photo session with the Henry family from the Lake Charles area by Bart Leger Photography – Lake Charles Photographers. It’s always fun when we can get a family relaxed and in their element. The awesome thing about lifestyle portraiture is that we are able to capture the family in familiar surroundings, with things that mean alot to them, and can become a meaningful design element within the home when framed properly.
This family loves the outdoors, horses, and wagon rides. In case you couldn’t tell…

For me, Thanksgiving is a happy time. A time when family is together, being thankful for how we have been blessed. It is also a time when I start getting into the Christmas spirit. With many radio stations playing Christmas music beginning around the 1st of November, store advertisements, and the Christmas Hallmark movies playing, it’s not difficult to experience a little cheer.
Here are a few pumpkin pictures for the fall with our grandson.

God bless and Happy Holidays! Remember – Jesus is the Reason for the Season.

OK, I’ll confess. I’m a cat person. Although cats probably don’t technically have owners (merely domiciliary providers), we have a resident cat who recently had four kittens. They started out life under the neighbor’s house and ultimately ended up in our garage. Just this morning they started venturing out into the wild world (within three feet of the garage door). They don’t like being touched yet, although they are not hissing quite as loudly now when you are able to get close enough to touch them. Two of them are spoken for, and we plan on keeping the other two.
I hope these kittens fare better than the last litter. Whether lost to running away or stray dogs (coyotes possibly) all kittens were lost. Here are a few pictures from this morning.

I see you! But don't come any closer.

We may be in REEL danger...

Have an awesome day! God bless.

It always helps when you have a great subject to photograph. Back in August while trying out some new equipment, we went out into this couple’s front yard and started taking pictures. Using some trees as our background, we set our lovely model with the setting sun to her back. In some frames we used only available light, while others had either a slight fill flash from a Speedlight in a softbox, or a tungsten colored floodlight.
We ended up with a great portrait or two and this photographer was well pleased with the new PocketWizard Mini TT1 and Flex TT5 wireless remotes for Canon Speedlights.
If you would like to schedule your family portrait, senior session, newborn, or maternity session with us, please drop us a line or give us a call at 337-302-6624. We serve Lake Charles and surrounding areas. If you have a great out of town setting you would like for your session, we can also arrange an out of town destination session.

God bless!

Last night we had our churchwide Christmas caroling and get-together. After caroling, and after alot of good food, there was much fun, fellowship and children at play. Here are a few candid shots as the little ones were playing.

Each year our church youth group goes on a Christmas caroling hayride and this year was no different. Everyone had a great time and each family that had the pleasure of being sung to were very appreciative. It was a Christmas caroling hayride, but the weather was anything but Christmas-like. It was a bit on the warm side. Here are a few pictures of the evening.

This one was taken back at church after the hayride

It’s always a pleasure to get to know a friendly, loving family and share a special time while capturing some memorable moments. Our session this morning with the Ball family was no different. The little ones were a little fidgety, but we got a few good shots. The last picture is a nice sunbeam I saw this morning on the way to the photo session.

Lorrain Bridge, near Hayes, LA has been said to be one of the only wooden bridges of its kind left in the state (prior to the present reconstruction). This wooden bridge crosses Lacassine Bayou from Calcasieu Parish into Jefferson Davis Parish and was used to cross Bayou Lacassine as part of the cattle trail used to bring cattle to the stockyards in Welsh and later to the first sale barn in Southwest Louisiana.
Before the early 1900′s when the original bridge was built, Mr. Paul Lorrain constructed a one car ferry drawn by ropes by horses or mules to get cars, farm equipment and crops across the bayou.
Lorrain Bridge is a popular destination and photo location for senior photographers as well as wedding photographers in the Lake Charles area doing Bridal portraits and Engagement photos. The area includes water, woods and swamp to add variety to your pictures.
I do enjoy being out in God’s creation capturing some of its beaty with my camera. I also have Fine Art images available for sale if you are interested. I hope you enjoy. These pictures captured by Lake Charles Photographer, Bart Leger Photography.
