Jennings, LA Senior Portrait Session – Lake Charles Senior Photographers

Friday, May 13th, 2011

Old and rustic. That’s what Ariel liked. Ariel sought out Lake Charles Senior Photographers to capture her true personality and love of old, rustic outdoor settings. And that’s what we did. We packed up and went out to a farm with old relics near our studio. We had so much fun we almost didn’t know when to stop. Our first image here is from one of the old flatbed farm trucks on the property. We applied an antique finish to this image.

This next image was taken just a few yards away in front of a different truck with just as much character. After blazing a trail and assuring Ariel that all critters and creepy things were shooed (is that a real word???) away, she sat down and we clicked away.

Then we got inside the truck and got a few more. This next one is Ariel’s reflection in the side view mirror.

Oh, and did I mention she likes 4 wheelers?

And lastly, we went with the prom dress at the lamp post. A little bit of fashion never hurt anyone. At least I don’t think so…

Field of Dreams – Grand Lake Area Senior Photographers

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

Meet Kallan… a beautiful senior from the Lake Charles area. We had a great time shooting her pageant portraits a few weeks earlier, but had a blast doing her senior session. We knew she wanted to do something out in a field somewhere and had pretty much exhausted our regular spots with our previous seniors. The day arrived and I was planning on going to one of our old favorites when my wife mentioned a wildflower field across from the Lake Charles Airport. We decided to give it a try and it was a great find that turned into wonderful images for this senior. This first image is a silhouette we did right after entering the field. We applied a little texture and…viola!

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

The weather was beautiful, the ride out to Hayes, LA was great, and our senior, Emily, was a blast to photograph. We started out in Lake Charles. From there we made our way to a charming location near Hayes, LA called Loraine bridge.

Emily, we hope you had as great a time as we did. Also, be on the lookout for her custom slide show in a few days here on the blog.

It’s almost here. Graduation time. The leaves are on the trees, the grass is getting greener and we still have a few seniors who are just now getting ready for their senior portrait session with Lake Charles Senior Photographer Bart Leger.

This past Friday we had a great time with Danielle, a McNeese University senior. She is finishing up her degree in Education and says she loves children. Danielle, I know you will be an awesome teacher with that bubbly and enthusiastic spirit.

Here are a few of the images from our on location senior portrait session in and around Lake Charles.

This is installment number two on how to prepare and plan for your Senior Portrait Session by Lake Charles Family Photographer, Bart Leger Photography. Today’s post is Just For Girls. (Sorry guys…yours will be next) It’s always better if you can come prepared, knowing the look and theme you would like to project, but it’s also important to plan and prepare yourself for your photo session. Here are a few tips:

  •      – Paint your nails (clear or neutral colors work best)
  •      – Style your hair before your session, choosing a comfortable style you know looks good
  •      – Apply concealer and powder if necessary to minimize blemishes and then stop worrying!  – Portrait  retouching on your final order can eliminate small blemishes and under-eye circles

What to wear for your Senior Portrait Session – Lake Charles Senior Photographer

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

I know I’ve been promising to write posts that are a little more informative and useful. So here it is. This is the first of a short series of informative posts about what to wear and things to do in order to prepare for a successful senior portrait session with your senior photographer. There are a number of things that will help you plan and prepare for your senior session with a local photographer to capture the real you. The first installment covers what to wear.

  • Bring multiple outfits (formal and casual) that express who you are
  • Solid colors and long sleeves photograph best
  • Bring matching shoes, socks, and accessories to complete your outfits
  • Iron wrinkled clothes prior to your session
  • Consider bringing letter jackets, uniforms, sports equipment, and musical instruments to express your interests, making your portraits personal

You may also want to consider places that say something about your personality, style, lifestyle and the mood you want to convey. Popular locations are parks, lakes, urban areas, fire escapes, railroad tracks, etc.

Here are a few pictures from past senior portrait sessions.

Whitney & Eve's Formal Photo Session

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

Last night marked Prom night for many schools here in Lake Charles, and young men and women dressed to the nines were all over the place. My subjects for this photo session were no exception. We grabbed quite a few great images before they headed off to their dinner reservations. The camera really loved these two and their beautiful dresses.

Please add a comment and let them know what you think of their pictures.

Senior Portraits

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

We spent the day yesterday at Avery Island, LA doing portraits and simply enjoying the scenery. The flowers are not in bloom yet, but we found some nice places for a few shots. Quite a few alligators were out sunning themselves, and a large number of birds were nesting. We got there a little late and it was a very sunny day, so we had to work for each shot. Still, we came away with a few “keepers.”
