Lane Aaron's Newborn Session – Lake Charles Newborn Photographer

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Newborns are so sweet. Little Lane Aaron was no exception. If I had to choose one particular type of photography to do, it would probably be photographing newborn babies because they are so innocent and fun to work with. Their skin renders so creamy and smooth and everyone ooh’s and ahh’s over these little gifts from God.

Mom and Dad brought their new bundle of joy to our studio here in Lake Charles a little over a week ago and we had a great time getting these images. Like every newborn portrait session, it takes a little while to get them fully asleep, but when they go to sleep they are out cold. (Figure of speech naturally, it was almost 80 degrees in the studio to keep the little one comfortable)

We started with the low-key images first on a bean bag with a black cloth draped over it. Then we went to the towels with a white background for the high-key look.

Call or email Lake Charles Newborn Photographer, Bart Leger Photography and schedule your appointment today. We have packages for Maternity, Newborn, Baby’s First Year, and combinations of all three. From now until June we will also enter your child in our Baby and Child Portrait Contest for a chance to win up to $5,000.

Here they are!

Pet Photography – Lake Charles Pet Photographer

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Dogs – man’s best friend. Maya, our loving German Shepherd behaved very well this afternoon for our pet portrait session while I snapped a few pictures. We got ready by giving her a good brushing and spending a few minutes playing in the back yard to allow her to calm down. Then it was off to Photoshop.

While sometimes difficult to work with, I enjoy taking pet pictures because no matter what your pictures look like, they don’t complain. It does take some patience and time to allow them to relax and  react to their environment, but the results are worth it.

Give us a call if you would like to commission a Fine Art Portrait for your loving animal companion. Call Lake Charles Family Photographer at 337-302-6624 or email bleger@blegerphotography.com.

This is installment number two on how to prepare and plan for your Senior Portrait Session by Lake Charles Family Photographer, Bart Leger Photography. Today’s post is Just For Girls. (Sorry guys…yours will be next) It’s always better if you can come prepared, knowing the look and theme you would like to project, but it’s also important to plan and prepare yourself for your photo session. Here are a few tips:

  •      – Paint your nails (clear or neutral colors work best)
  •      – Style your hair before your session, choosing a comfortable style you know looks good
  •      – Apply concealer and powder if necessary to minimize blemishes and then stop worrying!  – Portrait  retouching on your final order can eliminate small blemishes and under-eye circles
  •      – Apply make-up before you arrive and bring product with you for touch-ups if necessary
  •      – Limit sun exposure prior to your portrait session avoiding burns or tan lines
  •      – Get a good night’s sleep
  •      – Friends and family are welcome to assist you with your session or join in on the fun!

What to wear for your Senior Portrait Session – Lake Charles Senior Photographer

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

I know I’ve been promising to write posts that are a little more informative and useful. So here it is. This is the first of a short series of informative posts about what to wear and things to do in order to prepare for a successful senior portrait session with your senior photographer. There are a number of things that will help you plan and prepare for your senior session with a local photographer to capture the real you. The first installment covers what to wear.

  • Bring multiple outfits (formal and casual) that express who you are
  • Solid colors and long sleeves photograph best
  • Bring matching shoes, socks, and accessories to complete your outfits
  • Iron wrinkled clothes prior to your session
  • Consider bringing letter jackets, uniforms, sports equipment, and musical instruments to express your interests, making your portraits personal

You may also want to consider places that say something about your personality, style, lifestyle and the mood you want to convey. Popular locations are parks, lakes, urban areas, fire escapes, railroad tracks, etc.

Here are a few pictures from past senior portrait sessions.

Brock's 18 month Pictures – Lake Charles Family Portraits

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Vacuum Cleaner – Brock’s first words (well, at least a close facsimile to vacuum).

I had the opportunity to do the portrait session for Brock’s 18 month pictures. His family wanted the high-key (bright-white background) setup and had to include his toy vacuum cleaner he got for Christmas. He loves vacuum cleaners and wants to play with them all the time – toy and real.

Here they are.

A Great Outdoor Photo Session – Lake Charles Photographers

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

Here are some images from a great photo session with the Henry family from the Lake Charles area by Bart Leger Photography – Lake Charles Photographers. It’s always fun when we can get a family relaxed and in their element. The awesome thing about lifestyle portraiture is that we are able to capture the family in familiar surroundings, with things that mean alot to them, and can become a meaningful design element within the home when framed properly.

This family loves the outdoors, horses, and wagon rides. In case you couldn’t tell…

Have a Great Day!

A Great Model – Portrait Photographer Lake Charles

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

It always helps when you have a great subject to photograph. Back in August while trying out some new equipment, we went out into this couple’s front yard and started taking pictures. Using some trees as our background, we set our lovely model with the setting sun to her back. In some frames we used only available light, while others had either a slight fill flash from a Speedlight in a softbox, or a tungsten colored floodlight.

We ended up with a great portrait or two and this photographer was well pleased with the new PocketWizard Mini TT1 and Flex TT5 wireless remotes for Canon Speedlights.

If you would like to schedule your family portrait, senior session, newborn, or maternity session with us, please drop us a line or give us a call at 337-302-6624. We serve Lake Charles and surrounding areas. If you have a great out of town setting you would like for your session, we can also arrange an out of town destination session.
