Family Portraits at Dusk – Lake Charles Family Photographers

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

We had a great time working with this family at dusk in the South Lake Charles area a few weeks ago. We started out with with some shots on the front porch and as it got a little darker made our way to the nearby railroad tracks.

Erica's Maternity Session – Maternity Photographers Lake Charles

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

It’s been a while since I last posted and it has been a few weeks since we had this family maternity session. As a matter of fact, we just finished their newborn portrait session a couple of days ago. As one of the maternity photographers in Lake Charles, we are having a great time capturing these great family moments. We went over to their home and captured these great images. Dad is getting ready to enter his last year of medical school, so I especially like the one with the little future doctor with his dad’s stethoscope.

Lane Aaron's Newborn Session – Lake Charles Newborn Photographer

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Newborns are so sweet. Little Lane Aaron was no exception. If I had to choose one particular type of photography to do, it would probably be photographing newborn babies because they are so innocent and fun to work with. Their skin renders so creamy and smooth and everyone ooh’s and ahh’s over these little gifts from God.

Mom and Dad brought their new bundle of joy to our studio here in Lake Charles a little over a week ago and we had a great time getting these images. Like every newborn portrait session, it takes a little while to get them fully asleep, but when they go to sleep they are out cold. (Figure of speech naturally, it was almost 80 degrees in the studio to keep the little one comfortable)

We started with the low-key images first on a bean bag with a black cloth draped over it. Then we went to the towels with a white background for the high-key look.

Call or email Lake Charles Newborn Photographer, Bart Leger Photography and schedule your appointment today. We have packages for Maternity, Newborn, Baby’s First Year, and combinations of all three. From now until June we will also enter your child in our Baby and Child Portrait Contest for a chance to win up to $5,000.

Here they are!

A Great Outdoor Photo Session – Lake Charles Photographers

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

Here are some images from a great photo session with the Henry family from the Lake Charles area by Bart Leger Photography – Lake Charles Photographers. It’s always fun when we can get a family relaxed and in their element. The awesome thing about lifestyle portraiture is that we are able to capture the family in familiar surroundings, with things that mean alot to them, and can become a meaningful design element within the home when framed properly.

This family loves the outdoors, horses, and wagon rides. In case you couldn’t tell…

Happy Thanksgiving – Pumpkin Pictures

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

For me, Thanksgiving is a happy time. A time when family is together, being thankful for how we have been blessed. It is also a time when I start getting into the Christmas spirit. With many radio stations playing Christmas music beginning around the 1st of November, store advertisements, and the Christmas Hallmark movies playing, it’s not difficult to experience a little cheer.

Here are a few pumpkin pictures for the fall with our grandson.

Last weekend we had the opportunity to take some photos for this family’s Thanksgiving postcards. We had fun doing it. Lighting was accomplished with off-camera flash, shot through softbox.

A New Ministry – Bereavement Photography – Baby Photography Lake Charles

Friday, October 9th, 2009

Just recently I became affiliated with an organization that provides bereavement photography for parents who will never have the opportunity to bring their newborn home.  The Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep Foundation. I am the new Area Coordinator for this foundation in Southwest Louisiana. I will be tasked with the responsibility of recruiting new volunteer photographers and spreading the word to local hospitals. All sessions are done free of charge and the images are also provided free of charge on a CD as well as a slide show DVD of their precious little treasure.

When nurses or social workers at the hospital call on behalf of a family, I pack up my gear and head to the hospital.  I would first offer the family my condolences on their loss or impending loss, and then get to work, knowing that the images I capture will be their only connection to that child once they have said goodbye. Some of these babies pass away at or near birth due to genetic defects, pregnancy trauma or stillbirth. In other cases, doctors have tried everything they can to help find a cure for whatever ailment the child suffers from, but the hospital calls when the family has realized all efforts have been exhausted and they will soon be disconnecting life support. In some cases, we are able to capture the last images of this child’s time here on Earth; in other cases, the parents are more interested in seeing their child memorialized eternally at peace, meaning once the child has passed and no cords or IV’s are connected.

Please pray as I embark upon this meaningful journey. As a Ph.D. with expertise in stress, grief and trauma, I have been asked to do some training for Area Coordinators in Denver next month for the organization.

If someone you know might benefit from this free service have them give me a call. If you are a professional photographer and would like to volunteer please give me a call at 337-302-6624 or email: bleger@blegerphotography.com

Our latest family photo sessions

Monday, July 13th, 2009

Things have been a little crazy busy around here lately as we are preparing for our daughter’s wedding in a couple of weeks. Things change, life goes on, and this is definately another example of that. But aside from that…

I figured I would get back to posting and will show you some family shoots we did recently in Prien Lake Park here in Lake Charles.

A fun family shoot

Friday, May 15th, 2009

If you’ve been following my blog, you’re probably wondering why you are seeing yet another change in the look of the layout. Well, I’ve been looking for a layout that is wide enough to allow the images to be displayed larger. I don’t know if I’ll stick with this one, but hopefully it will work.

Here are some great pictures of a great family. It started out as a child shoot and then mom got a few pictures taken. They were in for the weekend for Mother’s Day. Dad is in medical school in New Orleans. He is studying for his first Board exams to be taken in about three weeks. Our prayers are with you. We know you will do well.

Hope you enjoy!
