Chalk Art

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

My father-in-law, Jerry Long, is an awesome chalk artist and each year creates a Christmas mural in his church and has the choir perform a cantata. Last week we went over and took some shots of the mural and stitched it together. The first picture is with only the house lights on. In the second, he has turned on the blacklights and his “invisible” chalk comes to life! The last one is his finale picture in the center of the mural.

Children at play

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

Last night we had our churchwide Christmas caroling and get-together. After caroling, and after alot of good food, there was much fun, fellowship and children at play. Here are a few candid shots as the little ones were playing.

Christmas Caroling

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

Each year our church youth group goes on a Christmas caroling hayride and this year was no different. Everyone had a great time and each family that had the pleasure of being sung to were very appreciative. It was a Christmas caroling hayride, but the weather was anything but Christmas-like. It was a bit on the warm side. Here are a few pictures of the evening.

A few scenic pictures

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Today has been a very busy day with work on various projects and responsibilities. The pictures below come from different places and a few go back about ten years. I also found some as I was rearranging some picture folders on my laptop. I hope you enjoy.

A good day of fishing almost over. This is a picture of my dad I snapped with my cell phone camera while we were fishing Prien Lake for speckled trout. It was a good day.

Ball family photo session this morning

Monday, December 15th, 2008

It’s always a pleasure to get to know a friendly, loving family and share a special time while capturing some memorable moments. Our session this morning with the Ball family was no different. The little ones were a little fidgety, but we got a few good shots. The last picture is a nice sunbeam I saw this morning on the way to the photo session.

A couple of quick pics after our church Christmas program

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

We had a wonderful Christmas program at church this evening. One of our church members wrote and directed a 1940′s era radio program called “FBC Radio Christmas Family Radio Hour”. It was well attended and enjoyed by all. We capped the evening off with cider, cookies and cupcakes. Before the program I managed to snap a quick pic of one of the younger cast members as well as some of the cupcakes.

Lorrain Bridge – Lake Charles Scenic Photographers

Friday, December 12th, 2008

Lorrain Bridge, near Hayes, LA has been said to be one of the only wooden bridges of its kind left in the state (prior to the present reconstruction). This wooden bridge crosses Lacassine Bayou from Calcasieu Parish into Jefferson Davis Parish and was used to cross Bayou Lacassine as part of the cattle trail used to bring cattle to the stockyards in Welsh and later to the first sale barn in Southwest Louisiana.

Before the early 1900′s when the original bridge was built, Mr. Paul Lorrain constructed a one car ferry drawn by ropes by horses or mules to get cars, farm equipment and crops across the bayou.

Lorrain Bridge is a popular destination and photo location for senior photographers as well as wedding photographers in the Lake Charles area doing Bridal portraits and Engagement photos. The area includes water, woods and swamp to add variety to your pictures.

I do enjoy being out in God’s creation capturing some of its beaty with my camera. I also have Fine Art images available for sale if you are interested. I hope you enjoy. These pictures captured by Lake Charles Photographer, Bart Leger Photography.

Quick portrait shoot after church

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

This evening after church I had the opportunity to capture these headshots. This young lady said she doesn’t look good in pictures. Well, I beg to differ. The cute little one is her daughter.

Gumbo and fellowship with friends

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

Last night after the Christmas Parade a number of us gathered at one of our church members’ home and enjoyed gumbo and good times around the table. I really enjoy the Christmas season as it gets colder here in South Louisiana and we are able to come into a warm home and enjoy a festive time. Visiting with us was a family from Mississippi and I took a few shots of the children while they were playing as well as when they began to get little tired.

A fun day at the Parade

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

We had a great time this afternoon at the Lake Charles Christmas Parade. Quite a few friends were there with us and there was plenty of candy and beads to go around. There were colorful sights and a number of different styles of music to be heard. Naturally, I had camera in hand to record some of the sights. The sounds…I’ll just have to leave that up to your imagination.

What a doll!

The only manger scene in the Christmas Parade. Go figure!

Wow! Those are really green.
